Today is February 14th- Valentine’s Day. Do you celebrate this particular day? Or maybe you celebrate your love throughout the whole year and this day is nothing special? Whatever you do, just remember to take care of and celebrate your LOVE 🙂
On this Valentine’s Day, I want to ask you a question.
How did you know she/he is THE ONE?
Did you know that immediately- love at first sight? Or just one meeting and getting to know her/him was enough? Or it took you few weeks/months to understand she/he is the one? Or maybe your relationship has evolved from friendship to love?
Whatever is your story, I’m sure it’s amazing, unique and special. Every love story is 🙂
Do you wonder how I knew I found my other half? Well… At first, I didn’t have a clue he is THE ONE! I was spending summer abroad, working at the college with my best friend, having the time of my life- earning my own money, travelling around the UK, partying in London 🙂 Me and my friend promised each other not to get involved in any relationships. All we wanted was to enjoy our summer in the UK, come back to Poland with lots of pounds and continue our law studies as usual. I had my life planned already- you can read about it here .
First few weeks went according to our plan. I mean, there were a couple of unexpected situations where we feared for our lives and we were ready to jump out a window leaving all our belongings behind, but let’s skip that part for now 😛 Overall, the summer was going well. Then one day, we met a guy in the house corridor who said something to us, but it was so fast we couldn’t really understand. After 1-2 minutes standing in the same position and thinking, I realised he probably said: “Hi, how’s it going”, so I finally replied “Fine” or “Ok”. (Now- try this at home! 😛 Ask somebody a simple question and wait 1-2 minutes for answer… awkward, right? :P)
That was our first encounter. How romantic! 🙂 To be honest, me and my friend decided not to talk to this guy too much, because we can’t understand him anyways. It’s better to stay away and not to get involved in any conversation with him. At the end of the day, we will look stupid when we ask him for the 10th time- Could you repeat? What did you say? Could you talk slower? So yeah, it’s better to stay away and pretend we are busy all the time 🙂
Unfortunately, you cannot avoid people when sharing the same house. We met him again and again and again and we got involved in maaany conversations at the kitchen table:) I don’t really remember what we used to talk, I just remember he was looking hot (but of course, I didn’t show him anything! :P). He used to order different Indian takeaways and always offer us to try them. I’ve never tried before Indian food in my life. Initially, I didn’t like it that much so I used to say “No, thank you; No, not today; I’m fine, thanks”. However, my friend is a foodie who loves to cook, bake and explore differents tastes and cuisines. She used to never say ‘no’. She was always ready to try his food. What’s more important, she really liked it and she was so happy when offered anything new. He was also very happy he introduced Indian food to a European girl who liked it and promised to try to make similar dishes at her home in Poland. Well, he wasn’t talking about me of course! He thought I am a supercilious girl who doesn’t care about others and thinks she is the best. What a horrible impression I’ve made! Nevermind now… 😛
He also invited both of us to see a movie…. a horror movie!!! I spent most of the time in cinema either covering my eyes with my hand or hiding under the jacket. What a disastrous choice! 😛 Moreover, he wanted to treat us to something special to drink so he mixed coke with sprite and fanta in one drink! I hated it…. and my friend loved it ! 😛
Just to clarify one thing- my best friend had a boyfriend that summer (well, they are married now) so she wasn’t interested at all in my ‘future husband’. She was just keen to explore new things- new tastes, new cuisines and new places. She was just normal- nice 🙂 She is a lovely, open girl with a broad smile, so everyone automatically likes her. Well, as you noticed- I was not like that 😛
Other day, me & my friend & one more friend & Bikram (my husband’s name) decided to go to London by night and paint the town red. (Please, be aware I was a little tipsy and that’s not my normal behaviour :P). We stopped in central London at Trafalgar Square. Suddenly, I looked at famous Nelson’s column surrounded by statues of four liones and ….. started climbing a lion! 😛 Very wise 😛 Bikram started following me and climbing as well, but he hurt his knee quite badly when jumping on the lion. In the meantime, Police noticed us and we had to run away quickly 😛 😛 😛 On the way back home, my friend kept asking Bikram “how are you feeling, how is your knee”, but I kept neutral- no point getting too sympathetic about somebody’s knee. Otherwise, we will think I like him or … exactly, no point being too nice 😛
This is the beginning of our love story. Isn’t it romantic? 🙂
As you noticed, I was playing hard to get. I was pretending I’m not too much bothered about his presence. However, everything has changed when one day he said he will be leaving the house very soon. In this moment, I realised I don’t want him to leave. I think I really like him. My attitude towards him has become totally different. Now, I wanted him to know that I like him. Fortunately, luck was on my side this time- he didn’t have to leave the house very soon. We have become friends and then…. a couple. As everyone says:
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
God made this couple / Match made in heaven
Destiny played a major role in our life. I could have never imagined I would meet my future husband while spending summer abroad at the age of 20. Now, I cannot imagine my life without him. He is exactly THE ONE– the perfect one. We have been almost 10 years together and with every year I’m more and more sure I have made the best decision of my life. I love him for many reasons, but what’s more important- he is my best friend. I share all my sorrow and happiness with him. He is the one who understands me and knows me thoroughly. Sometimes, I hide things from my parents and my best friends, but he is the one who knows everything. Although, we are from other parts of the world, brought up in completely differents cultures and religions, we have found each other in this big world and now we create unity- beautifully blended mixed family- FABULOUS FUSIONS!
I’m so happy I can say I’m in love and I’m being loved every single day. That is blessing.
Today, I wish you all- lots of LOVE. Let’s celebrate this wonderful feeling that can change a world.
That is us in 2007 🙂
Lots of Love,
